Shank’s presentation of his writing in the blog is similar to the writing in our essays. For example Shank questions, “So what hinders innovation and change?” Shank uses ideas from interactions with people from his life to ask questions and expand upon those ideas within his blog. This directly relates to our course goal to use sources and expand upon them to create our own ideas.
This style of presentation is different from our goal of academic inquiry research and writing because Shank uses personal life experiences. Although Shank is highly accredited, us as English 102 writers use academic and published journals for our sources more then our personal involvement with our topics.
Shank’s blog is as academic as it is a personal blog. Most traditional blogs I’ve personally seen have been about those at less of an educational level then Shank. Most blogs I've seen, the writer talks about their everyday interactions in the world such as bad flavor of the day at the ice-cream store to being in their first car accident. Shank’s high education leads him to interactions with people of similar education. He blogs about his everyday social life, which is extraordinarily advanced intellectually.
I found shanks to really expand upon his subject matter and create greater inquiry which is something that definetly needs to be done in our papers.
