Almost There
So I'm starting to feel a bit more relieved as my paper is coming close to an end and I'm starting to figure things out. I haven't finished it yet but it's starting to make sense and things are connecting together in my head, I just need to put it all on paper. This is probably my most challenging class of all at the moment but I feel that if I can write this paper and have it be what the professor is looking for or close to it, then I'm going to be super happy with myself.

Human Touch
As I thought about it more, I started to think. Really? What is my point in this essay that I am writing? What is this great correlation between human touch, plants, and the five senses...all tied to the "plane tree philosophy" of patient centered care. I mean how do plants and integrative activites like yoga which stimulate the 5 elements of nature in the body correlate and supplement a hospital visit and healing.
Well, first of all my thinking of the whole jazz, was that plants like humans have an exterior and interior anatomy and phyisiology (duh!). But what im saying is that is there is more to this. That maybe we are connected to plants somehow, that maybe when a geriatric cancer patient in the ICU sees a plant or catches a glimpse of a green lively plant, with its vein like stems; they would think and look that their own hands, skin, and veins kind of look like the plants, and can feel some type of hollistic being. I mean this is all still quite a blur to me. For instance, when i talk about the "response theory" in plants, and how some plants wont react to something as strong as a wind gust, but will respond to something as suddle as a rain drop, or another leaflet brushing against eachother. That maybe this can be correlated and can mean something when just touching a patients foot when letting them know you are there, you can get a response. Like plants, that feel of other plants or rain drops nurtures the plant and allows it to grow and feel whole. Patients are like plants, they are planted in a spot, they cannot move and they just wait for their enviroment to stimulate them in some way. That "human touch" could infuse a new power within in a patient, like it does within a plant. It will either attack or respond in a positive growing manner.
Another idea I am dabbling around, is this idea of yoga and other integrative activities that can be incorporated in a healing process. I focus on yoga because my past studies on alternative medicine and the five elements (classical) infuse different aspects of natures inside of us, allowing us to heal mentally and physically. Just as plants very well incorporate everyday the classical five elements in which their enviroment is surrounded by.
This is where my thought process is focused around, I want to produce new information in regards to this. The plane tree model does not in any way shape or form say that plants are what heals patients. Plants in the plane tree model serve a purpose aesthetically, and pyschologically. I want to take this a step further and parallel human systems to plant systems, and really show that yes we do function like plants. And that YES, plants in the hospital enviroment DO stimulate our inner classical five senses and nurture us in the healing process. Ranging from cancer patients to respriatory patients in a hospital.

Shanks
Michael Shanks presents his blogs in a "commercial" way. However, I still see them as being academic inquiry because he talks of his findings and his knowledge of what he does. His writting in the blog is professional yet laid back in a way that makes it friendly to read. If he were to write a research paper about the same information he writes about in his blog, it would be presented in a much more organized/professional way and may not be so easy on the reader. His website is professional to some extent but I also think it reflects his personality in a way. While reading it you can really understand his interest and passion in what he does which is pretty cool!

Research paper
Well, I've half a dozen different word files on my computer all with different introductions, and none of them seem right. IDK how to start my paper. Ive tried with a quote, then with background information. This is always the hardest part of essays for me.

First Draft
So I'm excited to finally begin writing this paper. I feel like we have been working up to this point for forever! I still am nervous I'm going to write more of an argumentative or informative paper though or I'm not going to cite my sources the right way. I guess I'll just have to start writing and see what happens, haha

Sources, Sources, Sources
Hello Everyone!!!!!!!!
So this annotated sources business is fun! I hope I am doing it right..I am writing my bibliography in MLA format! How is everyone else doing it. Also I am loving finding new sources from JSTOR I am also searching some information for my own personal research! I hope everyone is taking advantage of it, it handier than google scholar I think.
Good Luck People!

research process thus far...
Ok everyone so I am wondering how everyone is feeling about research so far? I feel like as i'm starting to read more and more about different ideas im finding on JSTOR,EBSCO, and G. Scholar, I am beginnning to frame my essay and start to form a more controlling question for my essay! Which is exciting, I am actually starting to fit into the inquiry mold :D Yay! Well I thought it was almost impossible because maybe i'm just not informed enough about it. But I am actually starting to draw out new ideaas...I hope everyone is as excited as me!

I just got done reading the sample essay we were suppose to, and felt that I got a better idea of how to write this research paper. I'm not real sure what words you would use for what framed this persons research paper, but thought it was a good paper. I could also tell by this person being able to relate to their topic, it made the paper better and have a real sense of knowledge about it.
Ready to Not Feel Like a Fail
So lately my life has been completely hecktic...I will spare you the details. When it rains it pours though, right? It sucks because I've had to miss class and I feel really behind on my paper and still really do not fully know what direction I am going in. However, I plan on doing major work on it this week to make up for my lack of work on it so far due to my crazy life. I still feel like I suck at finding sources and keeping organized with all of this but as the process continues I'm sure we'll all be pros by the end. Well, hopefully all goes as planned and I will actually make it to all three classes this week and no longer be a fail! :)

Assignment Recursivity
Well I procrastinated on my assignment and now it's 1:11 in the morning. I also did my last assignment wrong, I used both of my sources to create a inquiry paper. Although I did my last assignment wrong, I still learned from it that it's very hard to come up with a clear conclusion that makes sense when I only have two sources to back me up.
Tip: Many sources combined together really help create a good conclusion.

So I went back through the paraphrasing assignment, and talked about how two of my sources frame issues in my research. I basically came to one conclusion that my resources are biased, and that is what could change the outcome of my research the most. So that's really all, I added to the last assignment and came to the conclusion that sources are biased.
Assignment for Friday
Does anyone else have a hard time writing these smaller assignments? I guess by smaller assignments, I mean the ones leading up to our research paper, where we are analyzing and discussing our sources. I keep finding relevant information, but I don't know how to put it down on paper, explain it and discuss how it's going to be useful in my final paper. I have pages of notes and my articles printed out filled with highlighting and more notes, but I am having a hard time actually writing the paper. Any suggestions? Or similar concerns?
Or maybe you're all already playing the English 102 Drinking Game on this Thirsty Thursday and don't really care about the homework??

Topic..
I was thinking about doing my subject on the effects of cell phones to society...maybe teenagers/college students if the first one is too broad.

Success!
Just finished my assignment for Wednesday and I'm feeling a lot better about my project than before.
AHHHH
Ok, so I am really stressed out! But actually am liking this assignment. Is anyone finding alot of sources? I found a couple really good dissertations, UWM students actually. Pretty cool. It is crazy to read peoples ideas on how they believe nature ties into healthcare, and why its so thereaputic. But I do not know, I feel I have different takes on the whole idea of nature being incorporated into health care settings and therapy sessions. I mean do ALL patients really want or even NOTICE, I dont know....
