so i've been researching...

and all of my sources seem to say that marijuana has little to no harmful side effects. How can something so safe be illegal? cigarettes cause 443600 deaths every year. you know how many deaths have occurred from smoking marijuana? zero. Yet its legal to buy something thats worse for you? that seems to make no sense at all.

  1. thats wut im sayin lol,

The reason marijuana is illegal is because politics in the US are f'ed up. Reefer madness was a time period in the early 20th century when white people pointed there fingers at black and Mexican people and said they are all crazy abusive weed smokers, aka look how bad weed is. Very ironic if u ask me. The government also felt that hemp cannabis fiber was too large of a competition for other sources. This caused the government to issue a marijuana tax stamp law, which meant you could only possess or grow marijuana with a stamp. This looked like they weren't taking our freedom, but coincidentally the government issued no stamps out, to anybody. During the cold war congress decided marijuana was bad because people who smoke weed dont want to go kill other people.

I'm not gonna lie I haven't read a lot of books on this, I watched the movie The Union: The Business Behind Getting High. I would be interested in hearing anyone's argument against weed after watching it. If you want I can give you it on your computer or jump drive, just ask me.

  2. I've also watched the union, its a great film, and i plan on using it as a main source for my research paper. It would be very interesting to hear someone's argument against it after watching it. Hemp is one of the most useful plants in the world, it has so many different things it can be used for, even fuel, and we haven't even tapped into that at all. Its sad that a plant with so many uses is illegal.
