I think I've got the format of the essay down. (i guess we'll see tomorrow at my confrence) I just recently finished getting the last of my resources.
ReplyDeleteSo...that hour of writing two hours of final fantasy didn't really work out last night...so I'm still at a page and a half. Chapter 7 of the game though....so uhh hell yeah for priorities?
ReplyDeleteMy first draft is still going slow, and although I think I have a fair outline of what I want to write about, I find it hard to start the first sentence. I do have a draft started but it's still kind of shaky in terms of it actually being the basis of my essay. I just need to find a way to write my solid first paragraph and then I feel it will be easier to write the rest.
ReplyDeleteI started to write a draft, but it seemed biased and more of an argument kinda paper.. so i deleted it. I've been trying to think of a good way to start it because I'n not sure what my controlling purpose is.. so I'm kinda STUCK at the moment but once I figure out a way to start it will be 10x easier to write. i feel that after talking to adam (tomorrow morning), it will make me feel more at ease because i dont know if wat im writing is right. I figured out how the sources frame their ideas, and i have a good understanding of the information. I'm hoping that after talking tomorrow I will be able to just sit down and write 8 pages for monday!
ReplyDeleteGot a few paragraphs down, starting alright I guess. I'm gonna need to finish it this weekend. I'm starting the essay different though. I'm now going to begin with a bit of the questions that arises with Mass Media such as how it's problematic, conflict of interest, etc. Then into the history.
ReplyDeleteI have written a little more than 8 pages so far. I summarized a couple sources and critically analyzed them. I also tried to correlate some of my sources together and prove a similar point through the correlations.
ReplyDeleteI am currently at about 6 pages thus far. I seem to losing a little bit of my direction so I had to redue one page, I am unsure if i will be capable of making the 8 plus pages.
ReplyDeleteWell I got 6 pages of writing... but after looking at it, it appears that i kind of ramble a lot. I used quite a few quotes. i hope its not as bad as I think it is.
ReplyDeleteAs I forgot to post Tuesday, due to the fact I was completely lazy and was more focused on MW2, I buckled down for the these Wednesday and so far up to today. What I have accomplished is; nothing. I'll be honest, I'm being completely lazy about this whole process simply because I know how I'm writing my paper and I have all the sources that I need. I would like to bring something to my conference tomorrow so there is a good chance that I'm going to belt out half of my paper tonight and finish the rest over the weekend. My goal is to put together the first 5-6 pages tonight so that Andrews can tell me if my writing base is off. That way he can get a taste of how I am writing and in what direction I am taking my sources. There is no sense in completely the total 8-10 pages before tomorrow because if I'm wrong about it, which of course I know that I'm not, however still, I will denounce this class, throw a shit-fit, and do exactly what we aren't suppose to do. Attempt to create a piece of work directed by an opinion of an outside party.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what, after I am done posting this, I am going to begin the grueling task of throwing 6, maybe even 7, pages together for my 15 minute conference tomorrow in which I haven no idea what we will talk about. Maybe we can talk about politics or religion...
I started writing my paper earlier this week but it wasn't going so well. I'm thinking Amanda's idea of creating some kind of outline might help me organize a little bit before I start. I know I easily have enough sources to get 8+ pages, I just need to figure out the organization of my paper. I'm thinking maybe we should have started out with 4 or 6 pages...
ReplyDeleteso i got mostly 6 pages and havign the conference was a big help on my direction for my writing. still a little rough but onc ei have this rough draft doen and turned in will definately help my work towards making this a lot better.

ReplyDeleteive been busy reading all my sources and defining my research question, ive started to dig in and start my paper. not quite sure where im going yet in my paper but i will make it there eventually.
ReplyDeleteWhat I have accomplished so far since my conference is narrowing down my topic. My topic is about refugee camps and I need to narrow down to one refugee camp or area of refugee camp so I can describe the area, the culture, and the lifestyle for me to be able to be more fair with the inquiry and the new idea I come up with. I need to find more sources and actually sit down to begin writing my 8 page paper.

ReplyDeletebut I dont think Kant will be involved in my paper. I had intended to make more progress but was sidetracked by some kind of stomach ailment. I hope at my conference on Friday I will be able to get some better direction about how to actually begin writing something because right now I have just kind of been jotting down notes in my notebook about connections I have made and I dont know if that is really what I am supposed to be doing. I am very glad though that I feel like my paper has a direction and that puts my mind at ease much more than it was in earlier this week.
I've started and have so far written 3 pages...now I'm stuck, and I feel like I don't have a frame for my sources...so hopefully my conference today will be helpful...

ReplyDeleteAs of Tuesday, I have taken all of my information and organized it into the order I want to talk about things, and how I want things to flow. Now all I have to do is put it all together and make sure that I incorporate Victor Turner's ideas about limitation and rite of passage in with my other sources ideas about juvenile delinquency.
ReplyDeletefrom the last time i wrote on my paper, i havent added to it, but have a good idea on what i will continue to do. I am mainly focusing on the first two course goals, and later on in other drafts to do the other goals.

ReplyDeleteThis post was supposed to be made on Thursday however I completely failed to get anything done or even get on my computer at all in the past 4 days because my grandpa has been in the hospital. This sounds terribly lame and like a major excuse, but it is the truth and I'm not very happy about it. Now it's Monday I am finally working on my 8 pages.. so far I've got about a page and I really hope I can successfully write 8 by Wednesday. I also have a midterm, a couple quizzes and a huge art project due this week, so writing this paper should be fairly interesting, all the while I'm still worrying about my poor old grandpa! :(
